And that version is the the 2007 24-bit Japan Mini-Sleeve Remaster. release sound quality sucks and the 2006 Japan release is no better.
Yes It's that GOOD. Spend the extra money for this Rock classic, the quality speaks for its self.
However, the 2007 Japan remaster is greatly improved - a lot more dynamic range - sounds fresh for a 30+ year old live recording. Two stars for the US and 2006 Japan release - 5 STARS for the 2007 24-bit Japan Mini-Sleeve Remaster.
There is only one version of this gem that is truly worth the listen. The U.S.
The 2007 version is out of print, but the search for a used copy is worth the effort.
1971 was a magical year for so much good music. Sad that Frampton was only there for a couple of years but Marriot is a gem not only as a songwriter but his unique voice and guitar slinging carry the day.
Thanks for the memories. This live album really captures the energy of the group and the 9 minute I Dont Need No Doctor makes my skin crawl.
This is a MUST for any hard rock or music historian for that matter. Never mind Steve, you became a MONSTER with this amazing performance that night.
It was almost 40 years ago and this album still stands. I must admit, I became a Pie fan when I bought Thunderbox (OK, maybe it WAS for the cover,) but ever since I am coninually amazed by these guys energy and ability.
Marriot once said he would never play Itchycoo Park live (he was with small faces you know), and to my knowlege he never did.
I had this album years ago and played it into destruction.It was a good live sounding album.The CD sound is as limp as it can get. I have made better sounding CD's on my Linux computer than this.Whoever mastered this CD needs to change jobs, I'm even considering re-mastering my copy it's that poor.So buy it for the bands sake and play it on something cheap and cheerful.CheersFrank
ROCK ON. IT'S THAT GOOD. I had this on "8 Track" when I was in High School and wore it out. If you werenever fortunate enough to see them in concert (I saw them in 71') check this out. This is one of the best albums that "HUMBLE PIE" every put out. It is also one of the best "Live" albums I have ever heard and I have hearda bunch. A must have for "HUMBLE PIE" fans.
The versions of "Four Day Creep", "I'm Ready" (Willie Dixon's classic), and "I Don't Need No Doctor" (a Frampton live staple, even today) rip through your speakers. The guitar playing is crisp, with leads by a young Peter Frampton, who adds his own background vocals to Marriot's wail, and takes the lead on the Ray Charles tune, "Halliluja I Just Love Her So". This is live heavy performance that is classic. This is one of the greatest live performances from start to finish. Steve Marriot screams his head off from the first number, with incredible vocal rave ups between the numbers that showcase his incredible range. Play this one loud, like Humble Pie did that night at the Filmore.
